Acknowledgment statement
PeerReviewAI (PeerReviewAI LLC; https://peerreviewai.org), an AI-powered manuscript review tool, was used to perform a structured review of this manuscript to identify potential language, methodological, statistical, reporting, and reference issues. All revisions were made by the authors, who take full responsibility for the content and integrity of this work. PeerReviewAI was not used to write or generate the manuscript; any edits it suggested (such as language and clarity revisions provided as tracked changes) were reviewed by the authors, who accepted or rejected each one. doi:10.5281/zenodo.21014264

Why cite and disclose PeerReviewAI?

Why disclose
Most journals — and ICMJE and COPE guidance — now require authors to disclose any use of AI tools in preparing a manuscript. Disclosure is about transparency: editors and reviewers should know an AI tool was used to review the work. AI tools cannot be listed as authors, and the authors remain fully responsible for the manuscript. That is what the disclosure statement above is for.
Why cite
A citation is a separate obligation from disclosure: it attributes the software in your reference list and points to the archived, versioned record via the DOI. Some journals want both a disclosure statement and a formal citation; others want only disclosure. Include the formal citation wherever your target journal permits software citations.

Always follow your target journal's specific author instructions, which override any general guidance here.
